2012: End of the World or A New Beginning?
0 Comments Published by Jim Murdoch October 24th, 2009 in End of the world, Life, Positive Thinking, ReligionWith all the talk about impending doom and the end of the world, movies depicting cities sliding into the sea and tidal waves sweeping over the highest mountains, it’s time to bring some balance to the theme and dispel the fears.
Have you seen the trailers to the movie 2012? Have a look at this one:
Now that doesn’t give much hope, does it? What do you think? Are we really heading for a violent end to the world as we know it? As you may know, the date December 21st 2012 is based on the end of the Mayan calendar. Now some predict that means the end of the world, yet I have calendars every year which end on December 31st and the new year has always come around.
OK, the Mayan calendar is supposed to be different. But what exactly is it supposed to be predicting? Well the trailer says Google it. So let’s do that. Well only need to look at the other entries in YouTube, like this one which explains the calendar and what experts say it predicts:
And then, of course, there’s the fear propagated by religion which will attach this scenario to any impending disaster as has been done many times in the past: Rapture (opens in new window).
But there are other views. It is said that our world is in a transition, an evolving into a higher state of awareness or consciousness globally. More and more people are turning to spirituality and the results of modern science and seeing the ancient texts all pointing to the same thing – a global awakening to our true being, what we are and why we are here. This awakening, which is already underway, will culminate on December 21st 2012. On that date it will become clear to all that we all are intricately connected and that a Divine source of life connects us together. With that knowledge it will be impossible to harm another without the realisation that in doing so we harm ourselves. How this will literally unfold or what effects it will have on our world is not known.
One thing is sure, all is prediction and what we focus on will come about. So do we really want what the movies are predicting? Leave your comments below. I leave you with a sobering alternative from another “source”:
