I want inspiration. I need answers. I want to know the right thing to do. Have you had these and similar questions going through your head? You analyse, you look at the pros and cons, you search for ideas and evidence, yet you still can’t make up your mind if the particular move you have in mind is right or not. Perhaps it is a decision over a relationship or a business deal, or whether you should contact that person or not. Whatever it is you wish someone would shout from heaven and just tell you the answer.

Right? Isn’t this what you have wished many times, many many times? What’s going on in your head? Where are the answers? Where do you expect the answers to come from? I tell you from where. From inside your head.

Does that sound amazing, or simply matter of fact. Of course the answers come from inside my head if no one else gives me an answer. What kind of answer is that? Well it’s not strictly “inside” your head, not there where all the intellectual thinking takes place. But the answer comes from inside you.

So what’s the difference? By “you” I mean the real being that is you, not the thinking physical being which is a part of you. The real you consists of several parts, or layers or levels of consciousness. There is the conscious mind, that part of you which you are aware of, the thinking you. Then there is the Sub-conscious mind. That is the part of you which is responsible for your habits, your reactions and mind patterns. It is here, in the sub-conscious mind, where essential paradigms are formed, maintained and replaced. The sub-conscious mind is also that part of you which is connected to every other sub-conscious mind. We are all connected on this level and it is from here that information can be retrieved from other minds. Ideas are formed and the right people and situations are attracted.

But there is another, higher, part of your consciousness, that is the super-conscious mind. This is a hidden part, even more obscure than your sub-conscious mind. The super-consciousness is the part of you which has a direct link to to the Divine, to God, or the Universal Consciousness. Here is where true inspiration for new ideas and new ways comes from. The only problem is the intellectual mind, it is so busy thinking it doesn’t even know the super-conscious mind exists. Luckily we have the sub-conscious mind which can send messages to the super-conscious mind.

Here is how it works: First your conscious mind gets an idea, a desire, a plan – something it wants, something you want. Secondly the conscious mind, you, uses intention, repetition, affirmations, visualization and emotions to impress this desire, this image, onto the sub-conscious mind. Thirdly, the sub-conscious mind, now that it has a clear picture of what is desired (and it doesn’t know if it’s good or bad) passes this message to the Super-conscious mind, which processes it and gives it to the Divine. Next, fourthly, the Divine sends an answer via the super-conscious mind direct to the conscious mind – inspiration. At the same time the sub-conscious mind is attracting like vibrations. So “chance” meetings and unexpected circumstances, combined with the Divine Inspiration, all work together to produce the desired result.

But like I said, there is a problem. The busy thinking mind can’t communicate its desire clearly enough to the sub-conscious mind, nor can it hear the inspiration from the super-conscious mind.

Mind blowing? Tell me what you think below.

So what to do to get that answers, that important inspiration? Simply – shut up! Shut up your mind. Stop thinking, literally. Only by stilling the mind can you possibly hear what God has to say to you. And how do you quieten your mind? Focus! Focus on something still, like a nail head, a candle flame, a spot of the wall. Just focus and allow your mind to settle down. Accept but ignore any thoughts coming into your mind. Just let the waters settle. Stay focused and calm will return. Then and only then will your hear it – the still small voice – speaking to you.

Leave your comment below. Do you believe this?

What is fear? You know, when you face a situation and you don’t know how it will end. Or you must face a person, perhaps for an interview, or someone you have recently offended, you have that unknowing feeling – how will they react? What is it that makes you not want to go somewhere, or do something, or say something, or even think something? What is that thing we call fear which makes us tremble?

Fear is nothing more than a memory. A memory is something that happened in the past. Fear is not what stops me jumping off a building, that’s common sense. But fear will stop me achieving my goal because I am afraid of what might go wrong or what others might think. So Fear can also be fear of the future, which is probably based on past fears.

Fear is also the product of religiousness. I discovered, once I had distanced myself from it, that religion gains its adherence through fear: fear of hell, fear of sin, fear of punishment, fear of falling short, fear of breaking a rule, fear of God, fear of so much.

This latter fear disappears completely when the religiousness with its rules is removed. There may be memories, but they no longer induce present fear.

As for the fear from past experiences, this too can dissolve into mere memory by placing it in its proper perspective – past. It is a past event, it does not belong to my present, and certainly not to my future. In my studies of the mind and how thought controls what we do and experience, I have come to realize that I can determine my own outcome. Even if things go apparently wrong there is always a positive experience and lesson to be learned, which will make the next experience more enriching.

I do not agree that fear is a natural self-defense mechanism. Fear is an illness based on a lack of faith in the Divine. That Force, when recognized removes all fear. It is not a force to be feared, as taught in our religions, but a Force to be welcomed and lived out in our own lives.

The faith reminds me that the future holds whatever I desire. So if my view of the future is fearful, so be it. However, if my view of the future is something wonderful and desirable, then so be that also.

This gets into metaphysics and how the energy of thought influences the energies of life. Be it simply stated that fear, based on how one sees the past and the future, can be eliminated. It is a matter of changing one’s perspective. Stand on a mountain top and the vast city below looks like an insect colony. The city hasn’t shrunk, but my perspective of the city has changed.
It is the same with whatever we find fearful. Take a different viewpoint and the fear becomes an interesting lesson. Fear paralyzes, knowledge empowers. It is knowing what the thing is that has caused fear and knowing that I am a channel for Divine energy. How I channel that energy depends on my perspective, my attitude and my intentions.

When next you face fear, take a step back and look at the fear. What is it you are fearing, a past recollection, or a future fantasy? For that is all it is. So many worry about what has not happened. Why not instead put that energy into seeing a positive and desirable outcome? Fear is only a figment of your imagination. Use your imagination to dispel it and imagine a bright future for yourself.

IMAGINATION was the topic of chapter 5 of the book “Think and Grow Rich” by Napoleon Hill which we studied tonight in our MASTERMIND Group. Imagination is a faculty of the Intellectual Mind. It can be used either negatively or positively. Just think – when you worry, what are you worrying about? If you look at it you will realize that you are worrying about nothing! You have created images in your mind using your imagination of a situation gone bad. The situation hasn’t actually gone bad, nor is it likely to go bad, but you have created the image of the POSSIBILITY of it going bad – and that is what you are worrying about. Conclusion: Worrying is dumb!

OK, so what is the positive use of your imagination? Well, rather than thinking about the bad that MIGHT happen, try picturing the good that you WANT to happen. Build a picture in your mind of what you want to have or happen. Give it color and movement and put feeling into it, really feel that the thing or event is yours. See yourself in possession of it, enjoying it or doing it. Use cutouts and make a vision board and really visualize the thing you want.

This is a great book and it provides the keys to success in any area of life, not just the financial. See a previous article here for a link to the book. Our next chapter will be Ch7 on Decision. That should be interesting.

In January we will be starting up another Mastermind group to begin studying this book together. And because we use tele-conferencing anyone can join from anywhere. If you are interested read the Mastermind page of this Blog and get in touch.
